I have had it in Florida for 3 years. Over the last 3 years the paint around the gas cap has blistered some and is getting worse. I can also see some stains developing on the bottom of the tanks and the tank outline around the spar seems to be more noticeable. It is hard to explain, but looks like the tank has shrunk ever so slightly, but it is hard to tell. It definitely looks like the fuel is having some effect on the tank. My guess is it has something to do with that nasty ethanol as I burn 90% plus auto fuel vs. 100LL. I never had this problem in Utah. I know that autofuel can have up to 10% ethanol by law, but I know the oil industry never had that high of a percentage until recent years. FYI - I had the quickbuild option from areodesigns, so I didn't build the tank and polysulfide layup, AD did that as part of the kit. Has anyone else seen this issue with thier tanks ? I have had that in a small spot at the root. I opened the tank, scraped the sealant off, did a layup over the affected area and reapplied sealant. If there is ethanol in the fuel, it must not come directly into contact with the epoxy, as it softens it and eats through it. Originally the surfaces were perfect before I had the plane painted with Emeron. Now the Tank outline is very definite, as is the fiberglass weave in the rest of the plane. I would never recommend the product. I've noticed the same thing around the spars that showed up slowly over time but there seems to be no apparent problem with the grey sealer us ed on the inside of the tanks. My guess is the Hysol shrank over time due t o the exposure to fuel and causes the distortion your seeing around the spa r. It only occurs where it comes in contact with the fuel. I'm not sure tha t it's related to the ethanol but it seems to have stopped shrinking over t he past year or two. My plane has been completed for six years. I believe t he earlier Pulsars used a different tank sealer that was more cream colored and may be more affected by the ethanol. =C2- =C2-=C2-=C2-=C2-=C2- My plan is to=C2- remove the wings one day and check out the tanks and spar. If everything is ok then redo the body w ork around the affected areas and repaint. =C2- Barry ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mark Fox" Sent: Wednesday, January 11, 2012 9:11:02 AM Subject: Pulsar-List: Wing tanks Hello, =C2- I built my Pulsar in 1994-1996 and it spent most of its time in Utah.
