I used to be a relatively frequent poster on the old message board before the Matronics system however. I have a Pulsar III. kit I have to sell but before listing specific details, I'd like to confirm that this test message actually reaches the intended audience. My name: Otto Szorenyi Email: sieber56@gmail.com My private email is listed in case someone wants to get in touch with me directly and also in case this test doesn't go as well as hoped. Regards, OS ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 01:03:12 PM PST US From: GREGSMI@aol.com Subject: Pulsar-List: Pulsar gathering 2017 OK, got facilities arranged and we are a go. Dates: September 14 - 17 Location: Holiday Inn Express, Lawrence, KS. Phone reservations 785-749-7555 The hotel is freshly remodeled and rates have gone up, $85/per night, double queen of king I have 25 rooms reserved under Pulsar Group so make sure you tell them Pulsar. Airport ID: KLWC I have not made catering arrangements yet, so I do not have a cost. I will try to get that together soon so we can start registrations. Some of our builders have sold their Pulsar and are now flying RV's, so do not be surprised if a couple of those show up. QUESTION: Would you be interested in a one day seminar on Rotax 912 maintenance and repair? I am in discussion with people that do the certified seminars and this is a possibility if we have enough attending to offset the cost. There would be an additional cost for those that sign up and we would do this either the day before or day after the event. This would not be a certified class. I am working on speaking topics. Here is what has been proposed so far. Fuel bladders Prop balancing ADS-B Bing Rotax Guys, give me some feedback on this. Take care, be safe, Greg ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 03:26:58 PM PST US From: barrynorman@comcast.net Subject: Re: Pulsar-List: Message Posting Test It's working. ----- Original Message ----- From: "OS" Sent: Wednesday, January 25, 2017 9:03:34 AM Subject: Pulsar-List: Message Posting Test Hello Pulsar Users, I have been a long time lurker/reader and member of the Matronics list but never posted anything. I had been up north all last year working while my plane was in SC so it hadn't been flown in awhile. Before I had gone up north I had to swap out the crankcase due to crankcase fretting which cost about 5K in par ts and Lockwood wanted another 5K in labor to do the task. Needless to say, I did it myself. I flew it for about 10 hours with no problem but noticed it was getting harder to start when cold. Anyway, this January I started ge tting the plane in shape to fly again and I couldn't get it to start at all . As it turns out, both CDI modules had gone bad. After doing some research , I found out this was a common problem for 06-08 912S engines. Same as the issue with the faulty crankcases, neither of which Rotax would warranty. T hey claim the high temps under the cowl may shorten the life of the modules . Mine only had 400 hours on it. The interesting thing is, Ducati used to m ake the modules and now Rotax does to the tune of $900 each. My understandi ng is that there were so many modules failing last year that people had to wait weeks on them because they couldn't supply them fast enough. So, if you notice the engine is getting hard to start when cold, you may ha ve the same problem. Interesting part is that if it does start, as the modu les warm up, the engine will start almost every time until cold again. I wa s able to get the engine to start with the old modules just by heating the modules up to about 110 degrees F. The new modules do come with the soft st art built in which works well. Hope everyone is getting out there and fling a little.
