If you have a high electrical load, on the ground and in flight at low rpm the battery will have to provide this power. The battery only gets charged at cruise rpm. It is best to minimize the electrical loads and times spent at low rpm. If necessary, only turn those items on after takeoff and turn them off before landing. Some installations have a separate alternator for that reason. Lithium batteries can help, but they also need to be charged. Charging them without a battery management system specifically for them will greatly reduce their life and increase the chance of issues with them. I don't think it is worth the expense. I have a fairly large lead battery in mine, in the back which helps with the cg during solo flight.
