Mike,
Most air operated tools have in the owners manual the minimum air
pressure and volume required for them to operate properly, look for this
first. Then buy an air compressor that gets at least the pressure and
volume required of the tool calling for the highest of both.
Second and most important, buy an compressors that is oiled. Oiless
air compressors are cheaper but you get what you pay for and it's been my
experience, oiless compressors are nothing but trouble. I am just about to
buy a replacement for my compressor that is 32 years old and finally wore
out and replacement parts are not available.
As far as brand, consumers digest is a good source of information on
which of the various brands are suitable for purchase.
