--> Rocket-List message posted by: "Bob & Toodie Marshall" <rtmarshall@osbtown.com> Ernest, why do you think you need a locking tailwheel as one might see on a Cessna 185 ? I might understand if the rocket had a long moment and was prone to ground loop? I landed in about a 22 knot crosswind which was about 70 degrees to my landing direction(left) and the rocket responds much better than my ole venerable C180 or that Pawnee that we use for towing out of Truckee,CA I am not saying that the airplane will land itself ( you still have to have lots of footwork ) and correct control inputs, but the rocket really behaves compared to the above aircraft. You may have to design your own looking setup if you decide to go that direction, Scott does not make one that small, maybe some of the other rocket guys know of one? My last item that I would like to procure for the plane is a locking tail wheel. Does anyone know where I could find one of these for my plane? I have posed this question to the board before and have lost the responses so please forgive the repetitiveness. Thanks, Ernest direct advertising on the Matronics Forums.

--> Rocket-List message posted by: "Ron C" <ronc@metropolisdesign.com> I made a cardboard template of what I wanted and took it to an offroad chassis shop and had it bent from scrap tubing (crmo) while I waited. Cost $20. Then I welded it to the Rocket cross member, ground and finished the welds and away we go! -----Original Message----- From: owner-rocket-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-rocket-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Morocketman@aol.com Subject: Rocket-List: Help me with Roll Over Bar! --> Rocket-List message posted by: Morocketman@aol.com Does anyone have a drawing/plans for a roll over hoop which fits inside the Rocket canopy that looks like a race car hoop? i.e. about 20 inches across at the base, and 12 inches high and slightly "A" shaped. I am also considering an upside down "U" shaped hoop about 7 inches across at the bottom and 12 inches high which improves the back seater's view. Any comments or considerations would be welcome. Also, someone has a cable in their hoop which is the canopy tilt limiting device?????? Les Featherston Missouri Rocketman. N206KT is set for DAR's inspection on 8/11. Wish me luck. direct advertising on the Matronics Forums.

--> Rocket-List message posted by: "Lee Taylor" <leetay@idcomm.com> Ernie: Not knowing what you have on your bird, (but doubt you would want the one on a Maule, they are always huge), I would suggest that you take a close look at what you have, and figure out how the locking mechanism works. It is usually a simple matter to tighten them up, so it won't break loose so easily. It is possible that it is worn, typically there is a locking pin that sometimes gets rounded off so that it slips out of its locking slot too easily. If so, you might need to make a new pin. It's just a simple piece of bar stock. Or the slot may be egged out--that can be rewelded and reground, or replaced. They are usually pretty easy to fix. Take a look.
