--> Rocket-List message posted by: Lwfeatherston@aol.com Do not Archive. I flew my Harmon Rocket II on August 12th, 2003, (at 8:58 CDT) and I am curious to know if anyone can calculate my sequence. I believe I am the 100th Rocket to fly. Number 88 Harmon, and there were 12 F-1's by my very unofficial count. Also does someone know the Van's aircraft total that day? Not very important, but of interest. I love the airplane, and have about 45 hours on it. I sold my RV-4 which I had thought was the most wonderful flying machine I had ever flown. There is "no substitute for cubic inches"! What a ride. Thank you to anyone who can answer my questions above, Les Featherston N206KT (Yes, It does!) Airgasm (Yes, It is!) Check six when you come through Southwest Missouri. DO NOT ARCHIVE

    Subject: Seat Mounting!
--> Rocket-List message posted by: Lwfeatherston@aol.com Do Not Archive Has anyone had any experience mounting fiberglass bucket seats in the RV series aircraft. I have a set of Jon Johannson "Velo" seats, and am looking for any advice from those who have trod there before. I love the seats, and to answer the BIG question, they weigh 9 1/2 lbs each, and the RV seat backs with no upholstery weigh 3 lbs apiece, so if you cannot make upholstery significantly under 5 lbs there is no severe penalty. I'll report on the comfort factor next week after 10 hrs to Florida, and back. Thank you, Les 717-466-4663 DO NOT ARCHIVE

--> Rocket-List message posted by: Lwfeatherston@aol.com Do Not Archive Can anyone offer any assistance/advice about designing a paint scheme? I have the paper line drawings that Mark Frederick (or someone) came up with, but was wondering if there is a computer program that the complete idiot could run? Do you use 50 rolls of masking tape experimenting? I even considered painting on the hangar wall with spray cans. Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thank you, Les Featherston N206KT's, and 45hrs.

--> Rocket-List message posted by: Lwfeatherston@aol.com Don't remember who told me this (sorry), but it was a wonderful suggestion. When fitting the cowling, lower the top edge relative to the spinner about 1/4" to 3/8". Looks terrible for the first few hours, but after the first few months the motor mounts SAG into place, and the thing matches perfectly. I used the 3/8" idea on my Rocket (heavier engine) and with only 45 hrs/two months the gap is down to 3/16". I may be fool, but I may look pretty good by Sun n Fun. Just a suggestion which I am sure all the repeat offenders already know, hope somebody likes it. DO NOT ARCHIVE!

--> Rocket-List message posted by: "u2nelson" <u2nelson@prodigy.net> John Harmon told me this, and I followed his suggestion. Set up the cowl to line up with the spinner perfect. Then when and if the engine mount sags, mine did, just shim the engine back into place with .032 shims between the engine mount and the isolators. Very easy to do, and keeps the thrust line consistent.
