At the risk of asking a dumb question, what is the best color for the cockpit?

White is common, but isn't it glaring in the sunshine?

The other end of the spectrum, black, is totally out of the question for obvious
reasons. But what about that vast area between those extremes?

      Ideas, opinions?

      Thanks

      Gary Cole

      Gary
I usually use a light shade of grey as it goes with most colours and I
never really know what colour my plane is going to be until it goes into the
paint shop. You can use any colour you want but stay away from gloss
finishes for glare reasons. I have seen an Rv4 done with a flat black
interior and it was very attractive.

      Ditto here.
As a B-47 crewmember, I recall panels being a flat (darker) gray.

I remember seeing an RV-6/7 at OSH w/ a flat mottled-grey and white which
the owner said came out of the can that way when he sprayed it on. Don't
know what the name of it was but it sure looked nice.

Dupont has three generic grays light-med-dark. the med as I recall is close
to what Van uses on the power coated stuff. They sell a flattener in most
auto paint stores that is compatible with acrylic enamel paint. However, I
have used it in 4 RV's with single stage polyurethane paint and it works
great for the panel. Used 50/50 it matches the interior and leaves a flat
finish on the panel. Gray seems to go with everything. Just my 2 cents,
      Larry

My neighbor just sprayed the interior of his Defiant with that "speckled"
gray paint purchased at Home Depot. (around $6. ea.)
