Hey Guys
Thanks mainly in part to Kabong and Gummo I too have a shop full of aluminum parts
and a depleted bank account. Although only half way through the tail feathers
I was thinking about the choice of engine models, and as far as I could tell
the K model (300hp) is 43Lbs heavier than the recommended model. With the new
composite props approx. 12 lbs lighter on the hub and with electronic iginition
(not sure of the weight of the mags) would this not be getting close to what
is needed? I'm sure John or Mark have researched this already

The angle valve engine won't fit under the cowling.

Hey Chris:
You'll be happier if you watch the fwd weight very closely. The Lyc manual
shows the C4D5 at 402 lbs, and the K1E5 at 470...sounds like a bad idea to me.
Even the 300HP G model (small crank) is over 450 LBS...still not advisable.
FYI: the C4D5 has Slick mags; the C4B5 has Bendix (+2 lbs @ 404LBS).
Now, if you set up for rear seat solo, you might get away with it, esp with
the G. There is an HR2 in Tucson set up this way, but still uses the straight
valve engine. The front seat is much tighter than std.
If you're looking for HP, you can have the C4D5 pumped to 285HP pretty
easily, and 300+ isn't that much more expensive. Several shops can help with this
upgrade.
Keep in mind: HP is related closely to fuel flow...don't expect to be able to
get more HP without more of the other. Depending on your mission profile, you
might need the bigger fuel tanks too.
Keep building -- a little bit each day, and you'll get there. The 'grin
factor' alone is worth it!
Carry on!
Mark

I just sold my RV-6 and am ready to start a new project.
Does Team Rocket have a slo-build kit, such as the way Vans does his kit?
I have e-mailed Team but have not gotten a response.
If they sell a slo-build, how much are the kits?
My RV-6 was a slo-build so I know what is involved in building.
I am also considering the Harmon Rocket. How does Van handle the skin not
being pre-punched? Does this cost extra?
Thanks for any help that you guys can give me.

John
I purchased a RV-4 Wing and tail kit in December of 1996 and took
delivery in early 1997. It is not a Phlogiston spar, just the standard
spar as Van's sell them. The wing skins are not pre-punched. I want to
sell the wing kit and the tail kit together. The reason I am selling
the kits, is because I lost my medical and now am forced to go for the
Sport Pilot program. I am now building a Kitfox for that reason. The
Wing kit has never been opened, still in the crate. The empennage kit
has been started. I have the horizontal stabilizer in the jig, skins
are drilled, not dimpled. The elevators, rudder and vertical fin have
not been started. I am asking $4,000 plus shipping.
