Are you an aeronautical engineer with enough experience to feel comfortable giving someone advice, enough so to not worry about liabilities, regarding structural changes? If you are, what data do you use, other than you think it is weak, to support modifying a structural assembly without knowing that it won't adversly affect the safety? Once again, there are too many of these flown stock to warrant any changes, especially by a someone who thinks it looks weak. Remember, no offense intended. I think that if you were to talk to Richard VanGruensven he would tell you the same thing. He actually told me that he thinks I "....bastardized his design and made it unsafe...." by converting an RV4 to a Harmon Rocket II, and the only changes I made were per John Harmon's design, which had been engineered. If someone takes your advice, that is their problem, but I wouldn't make any changes in the structural design without an engineer's wet stamp. This is just my opinion and no reflection on your abilities; please don't get offended. I was just telling Chris what modifications I made to my tail, take it or leave it.
