OK, now I'm a bit confused as to which bolt sheared. Was it the one
inside the fuselage at the top of the spring rod or the ones nearest the
tailwheel. You should have 2 bolts down there.

I have a tapered pin inside the fuselage on mine. As far as I know,
it's in good shape... but it sure would be tough to inspect.

I used TWO AN bolts instead of one. My HR2 has an API tailwheel and
after 300 hours they still look fine. My driveway is "rougher than a
stucco bathtub" and my turf strip not much better. Redundancy my
      brother!

My RV3 tailwheel spring got a taper pin instead of a bolt 'cause my Dad
"said so". Lasted almost 30 yrs and 2000 hrs so far. Hope it'll make it

      another 30, hell , I hope I make it another 30. John

      HR guys,
As per John Harmon's recommendation, I have been using a UNI filter
UP-6300 ast motorcycle filter. Not only do I not like the looks of the
thing but it lays on the inside of the cowl and has to deform a bit to
do that, it also is wearing where the cuff slides over the Y-valve. I
am using John's intake Y valve and the angle of the filter side may not
be quite right. Has anyone had this problem and or have a solution?
Perhaps going to a K&N filter will do it, any model numbers would help
      my search for a solution.
      Thanks,
      Jim Stone

I had a similar set up on my second Harmon. I used a conical
K&N filter that had a bit of an offset in the attach flange. Part # RB 091.
It did touch the starter and I put a big gob of RTV at the point of contact.
It also tended to touch the cowling but never seemed to cause and damage. I
do not see any reason why you could not squeeze a bit to get more clearance.
It is a nice simple system.

The bolts that sheared on my accident/incident were the two AN3 bolts that
thru bolt the TW assembly to the aft end of the tail spring. NOT the
      tailspring to the fuse bolt!

      Sorry for the miscommunication.
