Subject: | RV-3 vs. Harmon Rocket I - some questions |
Hi to all,
this is my first post so a very brief introduction first: I am a 49 yrs old / 1,600
hrs PPL from Muenster (Germany), have owned a RV-4 with which I averaged
ca. 70 hrs p.a. and now I am looking into the Rocket world as I have sold the
-4 just a couple of days ago and Id like to get a successor for it (I still have
a share in a 4 seat plane).
I am an eying a HR I (single seat, I know) and Id be glad if you folks could help
me some information re the HR I (just ca. 5 built I believe) in general:
1.) As far as I understand the HR I is essentially a standard -3 with a "pumped
up" motor and a raised turtleback. I am not aware of any change of seating location
for CG reasons as all the parts and pieces were installed in the original
locations. Is that correct?
2.) With the angle valve IO 360 I think the CG at Empty Weight (I know a MTV-12
over a i.e. a Hartzell helps) is important. What is the correct CG at empty weight
please and what is a common empty weight?
3.) Too, I dont know about potential flutter of RV-3 control surfaces at say 210kts+
IAS. Any personal limits you guys have set yourself?
4.) I am trying to find out the specs of the HR I especially the recommended MTOW
as designed as I would need that fort the process of getting it on the European
Experimental register. Any one knows this (or more specs) and have some
set their own MTOW?
Well, just a couple of questions as a start I might come up with more so already
many thanks for some replies.
Best, Heinz
P.S. Smokey: thanks for pointing me to this forum!!
