Speaking of spars.... anyone have RV-4 tail plane rear spars that would suit an old Harmon Rocket II S/N 04? The Rocket I look after recently suffered some flutter in the tailplane during a high speed descent and broke the outboard RH hinge. On removing the elevators it was found that the tailplane rear spar was badly cracked in this area. The work is being done remotely by another NZ A&P so I do not know all the knarly details other than that he is trying to source some spars... Regards, Jay New Zealand

Gday Jay, I trust the flutter was because of the cracked spar and not the other way around I hope so! Mine is an F1, but I would be interested know if the cracks show any signs of age please mate. Missed you at WOW, time went so fast and my Dad wasnt well, but we had a great time I saw Ryan flying the Dominie, but didnt get to catch up with him either! FIZ is looking good. If all else fails, you can just fabricate your own from appropriate thicknesses of 2024. With the plans it's relatively straightforward. Lee...
