OK I talked with Lockwood today about 914 Operators manual:
"Take-off (as per RTCA DO 178 B - with inactive TCU)

It is kinda sorta like "Emergency War Power" as used on a P-51, however
      only for take offs.

The computer of the 914 has exclusive rights to open the wastegate, either
for good, or no good reasons.

If making a life critical take off depending on max power, if all of a
sudden it was not there, that would not be a good thing.

Thus on a take off that depends on max power being available,
recommendation is to place TCU-switch in "OFF" position so computer can
      not reduce power.

Here is the exact wording, I think it may be in wrong order:

      10.3.6.2) Take-off (as per RTCA DO 178 B - with inactive TCU)
      - Take-off performance until the boost pressure stabilizes within the
      limits of operation.
      - TCU-switch in "OFF" position.
      - Shift throttle lever to 115% (take-off performance).
      - After reaching the critical altitude switch on the TCU.
      - The auxiliary fuel pump may be switched off after the take-off.

This does not quite make sense to me, it sounds better like:
      10.3.6.2) Take-off (as per RTCA DO 178 B - with inactive TCU)
      - Shift throttle lever to 115% (take-off performance).
      - Wait until the boost pressure stabilizes within the limits of operation.
      - TCU-switch in "OFF" position.
      - After reaching the critical altitude switch on the TCU.
      - The auxiliary fuel pump may be switched off after the take-off.

      Any comments?

We have a Gill G25 (pink) battery in our CH601HD with R912S mounted on the
firewall. It is a little bigger than some, a little heavier, and a little
more expensive. However, it is now 3 years old, and has given not the
slightest problem from day 1. I follow the recommended starting procedure
for Rotax engines - throttle full closed, choke full on, when it catches
(in a few seconds), get the choke off in less than half a minute, and
set the throttle to give about 2000/2200 RPM (engine, not prop).

I just today got my replacement battery, an Xtreme Plus XP12-18 from Apex
Battery, a sealed gel cell, www.apexbattery.com. The cost including
      shipping was $42.50.

Last Saturday when I went to go fly my Europa with a 912 ULS and hit the
button and it just went click. I jump started the A/C and ran it for 20
minutes then tried a start again on the battery with the same
results...click. The battery was five years old and hadn't given me a
      moments trouble.

I have a 912uls. Have a pre-heat and float charger. And am still having
trouble with cold starting this engine.

What battery are you using with this engine? Any suggestions?
      Thanks.
