They work and should the cable brake, fail open. I tell ya men, I have this 914 sitting here. I paid cash. It came in one box, BUT it came without the means to drain the carburettor boxes hanging below. I've tried to find out what fuelworthy line fits the drain nipple below each box - since it appears it may tinkle itty bits of fuel down onto the exhaust, creating an unwanted source of energy. I have two techinicians and a manufacturer's secretary reading emails in an attempt to find out: (a) why it isn't in the parts box, or (b) where I can find the proper thing once they find out what it is........... During my wonderment interval, if you have a suggestion which doesn't involve impossible manoeuvres of my body, I would be pleased to read it......... Cheers, Ferg ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 01:22:20 PM PST US From: Gilles Thesee Subject: Re: RotaxEngines-List: I don't know....... Fergus, > it came without the means to drain the carburettor boxes hanging below..... Not sure to clearly see, but would you happen to be talking of the drain nipples at the bottom of each carb drip pan ? Our engine was the previous model with the drip pan attached to the carb flange (not to the airbox). We attached a small fuel hose to the nipple and routed it away from the exhaust, to the right of the engine, along with the airbox drains and oil breather. > (a) why it isn't in the parts box > External hoses, lines, wires, etc. are not part of the engine delivery > (b) where I can find the proper thing once they find out what it > is........... > If we are talking of the fuel drain lines, any reasonably heat-resistant fuel hose will do. Route it away from the exhaust and turbo. Some shielding may be necessary.
