Hugh
The excess oil tends to vent out of the tank vent pipe. To drain a small
amount out, use some clear tube that will fit down the dip stick hole. First
get the oil warm, then it's possible to syphon it out. It's not easy but it
can be done!

Great news Don.

Mine points at 9 o'clock, the tank is on the left hand side of the cowl.
Keep in mind that even in a steep left turn, the force is towards the bottom
of the plane so the oil in the tank should remain level (relative to the
tank). So unless you are slipping, the oil shouldn't come out of the tank
vent. Have you ever seen the video of Bob Hoover poaring a cup of tea from a
jug whilst rolling the Shrike Commander. Even inverted the tea flows from
the jug into the cup.

No problem running the engine with the high level in the oil tank. In fact
you cannot affect the engine from too much oil in the tank. =0A=0ARotax
did require that a new dipstick be installed in all oil tanks to raise the
minimum level. Too high is better than too low.=0A=0AJim Shumaker=0A=0A

t checked my oil tank level (cold engine, prior to =93burping=94 the engine
, and plane level). The oil on the stick is above the =93full=94 level by a
bout a half-inch. Don=92t know why! To the best of my knowledge the oil le
vel has not been this high in the past while checking it. Since the engine
is new and has not been run much the oil is quite clear and hard to see on
the stick, so I could have over filled it. The level of the oil appears to
be at the point where the very small hole is in the tank below the cap. No
oil is above that point.=0A =0AIf I have inadvertently over filled the tank
by this much, what is the consequence of running the engine? Can I safely
operate the engine with this amount of oil over-fill? If not, what is the b

he system? Comments? Suggestions?=0A =0AHugh McKay in NC=0AAllegro 2000=0AR
