Bernhard10, The 912UL engine needs the minimum fuel pressure specified by Rotax to keep the float chambers at the correct level under normal flight conditions. If it does not get the required fuel pressure and the float level starts dropping, the engine will begin to lean out and will quit when it no longer gets sufficient fuel. If this is a condition you want to avoid (I certainly would) then this would be cause for "concern". It is possible that your fuel pressure gauge is bad (unlikely in my opinion). It is also possible that your mechanical fuel pump is bad (more likely in my opinion). In either case I would check out both of them before flying again. It seems you are looking for someone to tell you this is not a problem because you asked the same question on the Allegro List to which I responded in a similar fashion. You may actually find someone to tell you that. If you keep looking you probably will. Good luck with your search for a Pollyanna. Fuel starvation for various reasons is the number one cause of power loss accidents in the NTSB accident report database. Thom in Buffalo FAA Powerplant Mechanic

Hi! Ira No my engine is from Europa but as a replacement for the Jabiru 3300. Although I did get the Firewall Forward Kit from Europa for a 914. It has welded bungs with blanking caps on all exhaust pipes two caps of which I've removed to put in Westach sensors. It is probably my retched memory playing tricks again, but I thought the 914 routinely came with 2 EGT bungs. The 912 kit of course comes with none from either Rotax or Europa as Rotax does not require it. I have the two I welded in (2.75" or is it 2.76") from the flange and would welcome two more if I had the downtime to get them in. -------- Ira N224XS

Bernhard10 a crit : > > Sorry can't answer all questions right now but here is what I have: > > Instrument: Fuel pressure > Type; Dial Gauge > Fuselage Tank > Bernhard, The 912S installation manual is really worth downloading from http://www.kodiakbs.com It states that the nominal fuel pressure is 0.3 bar, and should stay in the 0.15-0.4 bar range (2.2-5.8 psi for the metrically challenged ;-) The units are always printed on the gauge dial. Bernhard, one more point of fact added to Thom's response and that would be you should go to www.Rotax.com<http://www.rotax.com/> and read the service bulletin on the 912 fuel pump your model number may be in question R.J.
