It might have been a slightly stuck float, because it works fine now. Several full power runs up and down the runway and I could not repeat the flooding. So a quick flight around the pattern close in and all is normal. I do think that once you flood these carburetors they stay flooded for a good long while. You have to just leave them and come back later! The other day when they flooded, it happened because I had the enrichener return springs on backwards, and one of them came off. I fixed that, but the flooding persisted. Now I do worry about those little springs, because if one of them broke or fell off in flight, you would not have full power, and you would have one very rough running engine. Anyone have thoughts on this? Though rebuilding these carbs has been a challenge, I feel much better about my knowledge of how they work and what the possible problems are. At least I know more than I did!!!
