Anybody know which Puro One filter is closer to the depth of the Rotax 825-701/3
for the 912/914. The PL 10241 is too deep for my installation. It hits the
exhaust manifold on the kitfox 7.
thanks
Rich

Normally the airframe manufacturer (that's you) and the engine
manufacturer reach a mutually acceptable solution. Rotax says no
warrantee for aftermarket mods, so you might have to pose the question
to Rotax.

Not to bring up the oil filter thing again but....
One plus on the stock Rotax filter that I discovered recently that caused me to
go back to them. The rubber gasket on it is a little wider than the Mobile 1
I was using, which seems to give a better seal.
The Mobile 1 I had trouble with leaking ever so slightly unless I really tightened
it down. Rotax only wants you to crank the filter down 3/4 of a turn and I
couldn't get a reliably totally non-leaking seal with the Mobile 1.
I havn't looked at the Purolator, but the Rotax filter seals reliably with 3/4
of a turn.
So I've actually gone back to using the Rotax. I buy em 2 at a time or so from
Lockwood. They're a little more expensive at 15 bucks, but the reliable sealing
is worth it to me.

New to this list and am trying to find out what oils people are using for
their Rotax. I have been using Pennzoil oil cooled for 6 years and 300 hrs
in my 503 . Now that it is only in 8oz bottles, is there an alternative ? I
have sent a question to Pennzoil at PrdMKTServices@Shell.com to ask to
have there decision to not package it in the 16oz bottles reversed. I you
could, send a message and tell all you know and maybe we can get it
changed. At this rate it literally doubles the price of the oil and only
half the quantity is available in a case at 24 -8oz bottles.

I agree that this was beat to death before but some very knowledgable people had
some interesting things to say. I had previously bought 12 Challenger 9124's
which are for sale cheap because they wouldn't take them back. I can look down
the holes and see the bottom of the filter. No drainback protection among
other things. The PL10241 was the aftermarket choice but it is too long to fit
on my engine. If I can't find one I will have to buy more Rotax filters. They
are $30+ at Aircraft Spruce and $21 at CPS. I wanted to make one more try before
I ordered.
