Hugh,

On our 912UL we change our spark plugs "on condition". We inspect and regap them
at ever oil change, which for us using autogas almost exclusively, is 50 hour
intervals. They were changed at the time we bought the airplane (270 hours time
in service) and we've changed them twice since then, now with 580+ hours in
service. They are worn noticeably but not all that much by 150 hours, so that
is when we've changed them thus far. They are cheap so you can change them every
month if you want, but if you are not using 100LL fuel and you inspect and
regap at every oil change they will go a long time before needing replacement.
After changing them at 150 hours I've not been able to tell any performance
or operational difference in the least. 

If I owned stock in NGK, I might change them more often :-).

Has anyone built their own synchronizer (basically a double-ended
differential manometer) instead of buy a commercial kit? How well did it
work? Looks like it should be as good (or better with the longer scale).
