That throttle return spring looks a lot like the carb support spring just above it, and as Roger said, that is definitely the wrong spring. Our RANS S6 has a Vernier throttle with correct Bing throttle return springs and that combination works as designed. -------- Thom Riddle CFI-SP Power Plant Mechanic N1208P RANS S6S, Tailwheel, 912UL N197BG FS1/447 -------------------- Scratch any cynic, he said, and youll find a disappointed idealist. From: "jetboy" The carbs on the Rotax 2 strokes are quite different to the 912, being slide carbs they do have a spring that forces the slide shut and takes out the play in the cable control. The cables are braided pull cables, so they need to be operated this way. So yes, in the normal use of these carbs a cable or linkage failure to any carb will shut the engine down. We had a Pelican 618 with this setup and added a WOT spring to the throttle system to give full power in the event of loss of linkage in the cabin. There is not much that can be done for the individual flexible pull cables, other than ensuring the linkage joints are secure and not prone to any twisting movement to the cables. The usual method of passing the cable end through a drilled bolt shaft between some jam nuts is marginal at best. My preferred way is to join the 2 carb cables with a motorcycle 2 into 1 junction, made of metal joiner, and run a single cable to the cabin. These joiners use regular cable ends and put no shear or twisting onto the cables.
