I have one for a Cont/Lyc and it was a handy tool but of course it won't fit the Rotax. I will pay you what you want. Ditto what Roger said with one minor difference. We usually do a compression test during first part of inspection while the Rotax engine is cold and usually get almost the same readings as when fully warmed up, generally no more than 1-2 psi difference. This reading is not precisely valid but it will show up major problems early in the inspection and save us time and the customer money by not wasting time on minor issues first. For example, you don't change the oil/filter, plugs and do a carb balance on an engine that needs a valve job. If there is a cylinder that is much lower than the others but still within service range, then we'll repeat the compression test after full engine warm up later in the inspection. If they are all reading good cold, you accomplish little by doing it again hot. We always note in the log book that the compression numbers were taken either cold or hot, whichever is the case. -------- Thom Riddle Buffalo, NY http://riddletr.googlepages.com/sportpilot-cfi http://riddletr.googlepages.com/a%26pmechanix A complex system that works is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that works. - John Gaule Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=238128#238128 ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 05:48:39 AM PST US From: "Dave Austin" Subject: Re: RotaxEngines-List: 912 UL Compression Test I'd suggest trying the use of Marvel Mystery Oil before you do anything radical. It unsticks valves and rings etc. Worth a try. From: "Martin Pohl" Roger & George Thank you for your answers! I appreciate very much to get a "second opinion" on things that I am not completely sure about. I use typical typical screw type clamps (worm screw on one end, open end with slots on the other end). I took the term "Q200" from ACS (http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/qs200.php), my clamps are from a european distributor and are stainless.
