You have a water source (battery +) and a drain (ground and batt -). For an electrical component to work, both must function correctly. The most common electrical problem in airplanes is a bad ground so make sure your engine ground wire is at least the same size as the wire going to your starter. Verify that it has a good connection at both ends. That should take care an the drain side. Next, check the start solenoid. It is possible for the contacts to become bad. This is kind of like a water valve that won't open all the way. Hope my ideas (and gooofey analogies) help. Thank you very much for your input. I will definitely recheck all the ground system. The cables are the same size, so it could be the connections or the solenoid. I will let you know tonight of the outcome. Best wishes, Johann G. Iceland. On 26.6.2009, at 10:43, MacDonald Doug wrote: > > > > > Johann, think of the elctrical system like a plumbing system. While the voltage says your battery is the battery is "full", a load test will likely show that it isn't able to source the current required. Hello list members, Doug and D. Wysong. I found out the problem with the hard starting. Grounding was good, battery good but the starter solenoid was bad. One friend mentioned that this could be caused by a low voltage starting from when the regulator/rectifier died. When I tried to start the engine a few times with a low voltage, the solenoid may have partly connected and created a blockage between the internal connection.???? At least I found the cause and had to let you all know. Thank you for your advise Doug and D. Wysong. Best regards, Johann G.
