The maintenance schedule for the crank replacement is conservative but this is
demanded by the fact when they fail then a lawsuit starts ............
If you wish then fit other parts but when they are not the original item then
the insurance will not want to now.
I am sure that if the weld etc crank broke just after you take off and are heading
for high voltage cables you will think its not such a bargin!!!
I agree the price is vastly different but so are the volumes sold etc etc
