Subject: Rotax 912 UL Oil Analysis
Gentlemen: I fly an Allegro 2000 with a 912 UL engine. I have had the engine since new. It now has 228 hours on it. I use only Mobil 1 Racing 4T oil. I have changed oil and filter regularly every 50 hours. I also have examined the used filter at each oil change. I have had no problems, but I finally decided to have an oil analysis done. When the results came back I looked at the numbers and said to myself, =93OK, now how do I interpret the results? I don=92t know what the results mean. The lab simply gives the results without drawing any conclusions. I am posting the results below hoping some of you guys can give me some insight into what they mean as far as =93do I have a problem or not?=94 Engine Hours 228 Oil Life 53 hours Viscosity @ 40=B0C 41 CST TAN 5.00 mgKOH/g Iron 20.4 ppm Aluminum 6.0 ppm Chromium 0.5 ppm Molybdenum 77.9 ppm Copper 5.9 ppm Lead 1.3 ppm Tin 0.8 ppm Nickel 0.9 ppm Silver 0.2 ppm Vanadium <0.1 ppm Titanium <0.1 ppm Silicon 4.0 ppm Sodium 7.0 ppm Boron 190 ppm Phosphorus 1267.3 ppm Magnesium 11.7 ppm Tungsten 30.0 ppm Calcium 2178.8 ppm Zinc 1305.1 ppm Hugh McKay Allegro 2000 Rotax 912 UL

Hi Hugh, You should use a company that is used to doing Rotax analysis. They will have good comparative info and direction. Most of the time if everything is normal that is all they say. This company does lots of Rotax. http://www.avlab.com/analysis/login/default.asp -------- Roger Lee Tucson, Az.
