I have been having a problem with hot starts in a 914 in a 701
will start fine cold run it for a while and and shut down ,fuel up or eat ,whatever
and go to start it it will just not catch
tried different throttle positions and seem to get better results with more throttle
have tried not using fuel pump to start and seems better
anyone else had that problem with 914 or 912
im at denver and wondering if alltitude contributes?

Do you have the water based carb heat fitted? If so, this can cause hot
start problems in some circumstances. Some guys have found it necessary to
fit a shut-off tap to stop in the carb heat water circuit to ensure that the
carbs are cool enough when you want to start again.

Tracey,
Start thinking about vapor lock as it would apply to your
particular installation in a 701. Move bubbling fuel out of your
engine compartment. What does your POH or Zenith say about
warm starts?

I have a 914 in my Europa and it can be tough to start when its hot.- I f
ind it starts just fine if I turn the fuel pumps off, start it and then tur
n the pumps back on.
Hope this helps,
Paul
