Hello I am new on this forum and i have a question about the Rotax 618 I have bought a kitfox 3 without engine and now i can buy a new 618,very cheap. Does anyone have experience with this type? is it a good engine or should I look for a 582 blue head? eric-- The 618 is a great engine=2C a few more horse power than the 582 and will get you off the ground to altitude quicker than the 582. I flew behind a 5 82 on a kitfox 3 for 450 hours and my flying buddy flys a kitfox 3 with the 618. He always beats me in climb. The only thing to watch are the rayvalv es(sp?). It is important to maintain them properly and timely. Other thn th at go for it George May > Subject: RotaxEngines-List: rotax 618 > From: ehtbox@planet.nl > Date: Tue=2C 15 Sep 2009 12:21:27 -0700 > To: rotaxengines-list@matronics.com > l> > > Hello > > I am new on this forum and i have a question about the Rotax 618 > > I have bought a kitfox 3 without engine and now i can buy a new 618=2Cver y cheap. > Does anyone have experience with this type? > is it a good engine or should I look for a 582 blue head? > > Thanks > Eric > > > > > Read this topic online here: > > http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=263175#263175 > > > > > > > =========== =========== =========== =========== > > > =0A _________________________________________________________________=0A Insert movie times and more without leaving Hotmail=AE.=0A http://windowslive.com/Tutorial/Hotmail/QuickAdd?ocid=TXT_TAGLM_WL_HM_Tut orial_QuickAdd_062009

Hello, This is Bill Catalina with 31 years experience flying these things. I flew the 618 on a Buccaneer I had a while back. In my humble opinion, it's labor intensive & sucks gas like an M-1 tank sucks JP-4. It does put out more hp but just not worth the extra trouble in my opinion....UNLESS...you can get it at a very low price, use it & trade it later for a 582.
