The Rotax gold standard, as someone put it, has gotten to be too much for many of us. I've owned 6 airplanes with Rotax engines, 3 2-strokers and 3 912 engines. Last year I bailed out and now fly an airplane with a Jabiru engine and am happy with the switch. I like the 912 just a little better, mostly for the PSRU, but not enough to pay the extra costs. -------- Thom Riddle Buffalo, NY Kolb Slingshot SS-021 Jabiru 2200A #1574 Tennessee Prop 64x31 Always be nice to your children because they are the ones who will choose your rest home. - Phyllis Diller Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=285590#285590

As you said, Roger, this is not something new. On type certificated aircraft the owners have always been required to maintain a current list of AD compliance as part of their maintenance logs and I/As are required to make sure of their compliance, either by existing documentation, or doing the compliance themselves, before signing the aircraft back into service at annual inspection time. When we first heard about the new SLSA and SP rule, the idea was spread around that there would be less oversight and more relaxed rules but for the most part, such is not the case. Who gets to work on them has changed more than what must be done to stay legal. -------- Thom Riddle Buffalo, NY Kolb Slingshot SS-021 Jabiru 2200A #1574 Tennessee Prop 64x31 Always be nice to your children because they are the ones who will choose your rest home. - Phyllis Diller Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=285595#285595

Thanks much for all the great information. I will stick with the quality fire shield but go with the SS Tie Wraps. Thanks again. Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=285679#285679

OK, Could not find the SS tie wraps at HD and none the sales personnel were familiar with them. OTOH, I did find them at Loews! They were roughly 10 for $5.00 for 6" wraps. I put two on my firesleeved fuel lines: worked fine, but took a big dykes to cut the excess!! ;-) -------- Ira N224XS Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=285705#285705

It has always been my impression that Rotax-owers.com is not Rotax the company, but only Rotax authorized. In other words, I think they are a couple of guys trying to make a few bucks on the side by supplying a service. A service that I need and appreciate. Most of which is still free.
