I figured out that I can read temperatures from my Ilec SC-7 variometer for about a buck per sender. Curious what would be the max temperature you would want to allow your Ducati regulator to reach in order to achieve a reasonable service life? At which specific location on the regulator would you want to monitor? Thx. Ron Parigoris Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=286765#286765

Mounting the Ducati on the front passenger footwell inside the intake air plenum is what I did to keep it cool. Hi Kevin Thx. for the reply. "Mounting the Ducati on the front passenger footwell inside the intake air plenum is what I did to keep it cool." I have a 914 monowheel with intercooler. No intake plenum. What physical temperature in F or C do you consider cool for the Ducati? What location would that be on the ducati? Thx. Ron Parigoris

I considered putting a small computer muffin fan on mine but have found it's just easier to keep Lockwood's order line no. handy in my cell phone so I can call them up quick when it burns out. I'm on my plane's 3rd one now (if my count is right) and don't plan on this being the last one ;) LS -------- LS Titan II SS Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=286786#286786

How many continuous amps are you drawing? I kinda thought if you keep regulator as cool as you can that if you obey 12 amps max. continuous that the regulators last for a semi reasonable time? Thx. I too have the 914 with intercooler mounted on top of what I referred to as the intake plenum, where the air filter is fed by a NACA vent in the cowl, all sealed up with baffle material. I have no temp sender in there, but it must be just about the lowest temp location available FWF. Hi Kevin You by chance have a pic? I have yet to install my intercooler or cowl so having a bit of a hard time figuring location you are referring? or a slight different description? Thx. Hi Y'all, Kevin is probably correct about that being the coolest place on a 914 installation. Might not be a bad place to mount the Ducatti. Lots of fresh air coming in there. I find that the Ducatti regulator has the longest longevity when you don't use it. I installed an alternator on the back of the gearbox and it has a separate voltage regulator powering my main buss. I have a switch installed that can swap over to the Rotax electrical power just in case my main alternator fails and I need enough power to get to "NRST" airport on the GPS. I don't have a pic handy, but my intercooler was purchased through Europa FL when John Hurst was there. It came with mounting instructions. You make a cuttout on top of the aluminum sheet that forms the area I am refering to as the" intake plenum", the K&N air filter protrudes into this area fed by the NACA on the port lower cowl. I mounted the Ducati regulator on the front passenger footwell, inside this cold air intake area. The whole thing is sealed up with baffle stuff to the lower cowl and around the air filter too, so air comming through the NACA is forced through the intercooler. Hi Ron, Here's a pretty good pic of where Kevin is talking about: http://www.europaowners.org/forums/gallery2.php?g2_itemId=64421 Mounted there on the aluminum face that's the front of the passenger wheel well. Right there about where the CD6 is printed upside-down. Bob Borger On Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at 10:05AM, <rparigor@suffolk.lib.ny.us> wrote: >

I did not even mount mine, threw it out. I use a Schicke GR6 from Germany specifically designed as a replacement for the Ducatti regulator. See http://www.schicke-electronic.de/dgr3.htm If I remember correctly price about Euro95. I'd love to replace my ducati when it burns out again with one of these. Thanks, LS -------- LS Titan II SS Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=286856#286856
