My 912 has been in an unheated hangar this winter for the first time, and there is a small puddle on the floor, traced back to the small openings on the bottom of the pump at the rear of the engine. This has never leaked when the engine is running. Anyone seen this kind of seepage before? Have any of you replaced this pump or the seal before? In the maintenance manual it looks pretty difficult, and I think I would have to pull the engine (ugh!) -- Jack Kuehn 29705 Potomac Road Potomac, MT 59823 (406)244-2455 (406)274-0072 cell jack.kuehn@gmail.com ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 08:11:16 AM PST US From: "Cannon, Walt" Subject: RotaxEngines-List: Long term storage for the Rotax 912 Hello all, I am going to be working overseas for about 18 months and need to prep my Rotax 912S mounted on a Zenith 701 for long term hanger storage. I am sure this has been covered before...can anyone point me to a link for accomplishing these tasks? Specific hints or tips from your experiences would also be appreciated. Go to my Europa build gallery (URL in the signature block). At the lower right of the first page is an album on the Lockwood 9xx school. Click on it. Go to the second page of the album and at the upper right is a picture of the coolant pump. Second picture down on the left is a picture of the bottom of the pump with description and commentary about the picture. Unfortunately, the school did not cover what to do about the bad seals other than say replacement of the pump or seals were necessary. I'd recommend you check with your closest Rotax shop and see what they recommend. Perhaps one of the Rotax heavy maintenance folks can provide some guidance? Go to http://www.europaowers.org/ . From there select "Gallery 2" from the bar in the upper right. Select the 5th gallery down, N914XL and from there as per previous instructions. From: "wildirishtime" Unfortunately it wasn't my choke after all. It's still running rich somehow. The float needle looks good, the enrichening circuit is not it (it's sealed tight after all even tho it was a little weak but the springs are better now so that's not it). I have inspected the mixture screw and have cleaned out that hole with compressed air. What other places can dirt hide to cause a rich mixture? What am I missing?
