When draining the used oil from the oil tank, what prevents air from getting into the suction tube? All of the oil is out of the tank and the end of the suction tube is exposed to atmospheric air. Hugh G. I am looking at a 912 with history of a prop strike. I understand the non-slipper clutch gear box tear down and check is in order. Has anyone had crank shaft or other problems after prop strike on a 912(with a wood prop, don't know if engine was at idle or developing power.) You would have to turn the engine over (rotate the prop) in order to move the oil in the lines and introduce air into the plumbing. I suppose the same could be said regarding the oil filter. Don't turn the engine over with the filter off?
