I get e-mails that are incomplete and cannot find the responsible organization. Lockwood does not seem to think you are valid. Do you not answer your e-mails? I assume you have no phone to call. Is there a problem on your end? The other documents download OK. If you email questions they may get answered here. Folks, I also thought he was complaining about this forum, but looking at the emails he included in his post, I think he's complaining about rotax-owner.com, and decided to CC the group address -- Bob Comperini e-mail: bob@fly-ul.com WWW: http://www.fly-ul.com ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 02:33:08 PM PST US Subject: RotaxEngines-List: CATTCO PROPS 3 Vs 2 From: FLYaDIVE Hello Gaggle: I am looking for some information on CATTCO PROPS. This is their web site: http://www.cattoprops.com/index.html Is anyone using their props? Info needed is: Three Blade Prop Vs Two Blade Prop. Is a 54" Pitch CATTCO equivalent to a 62" Pitch Sensinich? Why is there so much of a difference in pitch call-out between the two? I say this because a 54" is what was recommended / suggested Vs a 62". I did some basic calculations and for the same engine and going from a two blade to a three blade the pitch should be closer to a 60". I do not want a climb prop - I want a cruse prop. Does anyone have a spread sheet program or a web site for doing calculations? ANY IDEAS? Thanks Gaggle- Barry ________________________________ Message 6 _____________________________________ Time: 04:03:05 PM PST US Subject: Re: RotaxEngines-List: CATTCO PROPS 3 Vs 2 From: Richard Girard When it comes to prop carvers they are free to call out there measurements as they choose. One carver may chose to measure at 75% of diameter, another may choose 70%, one may choose to use a flat bottom airfoil section and use the bottom as the reference plane while another might use the true chord of the airfoil. People I know who buy carved props generally have a collection and some are reshaped more than once in the search for that perfect prop. When I was building a LongEZ I bought a Carver prop that was supposed to be just the ticket. It had been specially run through Don Bates' Prop Optimizer program by Bates himself. I sold it to a friend who mounted it on his O-235 powered Varieze. He liked it, it was faster than the prop he was running but he got itchy for a little more performance and sent it back to Carver. The company had changed hands and the new guys worked it over pretty good because when Mike got it back his Varieze was instantly 40 MPH faster. Go figure. Craig Catto, Gary Hertzler, and others offer great products, but you may have to work with them to get exactly what you want. Just put it down to another aspect of your experiment.
