Hi Carl
I have used an automotive type tester similar to this
http://www.instructables.com/id/Make-an-Auto-Radiator-Pressure-Tester/
But it wouldn=92t be difficult to make your own, A rubber plug to go into t
he
expansion bottle instead of the radiator cap, Use a conventional tubeless
tyre valve screwed/bonded into the plug,
Then apply pressure using a foot pump with gauge, bring the pressure up to
just slightly more than your cap release pressure, check for leaks,
If you haven=92t the spring loaded hose clamps then I would change them, Th
e
early Jubilee clips were a source of weepage also I would change the rubber
hoses for quality silicone,

Subject: | 912 mechanical pump - fuel lift on vacuum side |
Hi all,
Does anyone know if there's a limit on the 912 mechanical fuel pump in terms of
how far it's permitted to lift fuel? I.e. how far below the level of the pump
the fuel level is permitted to be and still be able to lift fuel and provide
adequate fuel pressure?
I looked in the installation and heavy maint. manuals and couldn't find a spec
for this.
I'm just kicking some ideas around on my fuel system in my titan. The fuel level
gets pretty low below the pump at half a tank and below (about 2 feet maybe
more) and I'm just curious how close to the edge that is (i.e. without a boost
pump).
Thanks,
LS

Ok, that's a little rich. The republicans played this same game,in fact
they started it. If you all vote those clowns back in, nothing in terms
of this food to fuel bull will change.
I see absolutely no change in the lifestyle of appearance of the US
under the Democrats instead of the Republicans except Fox News is
outraged instead of supportive.

You are 1000% correct.
There IS a consperancy.
Think of it this way - When YOU make plans you think too the weekend, maybe
to the summer six months away. When the government makes plans they think
10, 20 & 30 years down the road.
Here in NJ - Our Senator is LAUTENBERG - He is YOURS also since he HATES
General Aviation. He fought head-on to get rid of GA in NJ but had a hard
time of it. So the LONG TERM - CONSPIRACY - APPROACH is: Take a long time
to approve the 91UL Gas - Add LOTS of ethanol to the auto gas AND this makes
the CO$T of gas prohibitive. You don't have to fight head-on.
The populous that fly will slowly diminish the big originations (AOPA &
EAA) will
NOT have members and therefore NO CLOUT! GOOD BY GENERAL AVIATION and GOOD
BY EXPERIMENTAL.
There is more I can say but one hunk of bad news at a time.

You guys REALLY need to stop drinking so much tea.
This (ethanol subsides and related BS) started in 1978 and Reagan and
Bush I were supporters.
That conservative mouthpiece, the Washington Post, has come out against
the subsidies that make this nonsense not just possible but inevitable.
Likewise the environment movement has pretty much rejected the idea as
worthless
Without the subsidies, again, supported by Reagan and Bush, there would
little to no ethanol in mogas because it wouldn't pay the refiners to
put it there. Just maybe if the GOP and their pet think tanks would
allow election reform to happen, then Congress couldn't be bought (so
easily) by the cooperations that are propagating the BS.
This is not a political forum so I've already said too much. But this
misinformation has to be responded to.

What's so funny about this is ethanol is _not_ a renewable fuel because it's not
(self) sustainable. It requires a lot of petroleum to produce and in fact increases
our dependence on petroleum.
Apart from that, concerning E15, I think and hope that it'll be simply another
choice along with E10. If that's the case, we should be ok as long as E10 is still
available.
If however they just force all gas to be E15, well, Rotax will be right back at
square one having to test it and go through the whole process again.....
Maybe by then an unleaded avgas will have been approved and start showing up at
airports?

That's why I "wash" my gas to remove ethanol.

I would assume in the composite Aircraft Manual it specifies what to and not
to use. This is obviously not a Rotax issue but an airframe issue. If it
is a wet wing sometimes the tank uses a flocculant agent which is not
compatible with ethanol. My aircraft manual specifically stated this.
Always pays to read the aircraft manual carefully.

Subject: | Re: Just when you were getting used to 10% ethanol... |
Ron:
Why did it start?
It is a case of 'one hand washes the other' - It is a case of government
contracts going to the big companies - Boeing - Rockwell - Lear Sigler, etc.
and where are they located? On the East Coast - On the West Coast and in
the Texas Area. SOOooo when a bill came up in congress and the Senators in
these three areas wanted the Senators of the middle states to vote for the
bill, the Mid-State Senators said: WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO FOR ME?
HMmmmm Good question.... AHhhhhh we will subsidize your CORN GROWING....
GEEeeeeee How are you going to do that?
EASY! We will get the EPA to SAY.... SAY WITH OUT PROOF... Or did you
forget about the attempted bill/proposal that REQUIRED the EPA to PROVE what
they say? Guess you DID! REMEMBER MTBE, the Un-Tested, Un-Proven and
Un-Substantiated additive that was to reduce emission, improve air quality
AND in the first advertising - Improve your gas mileage? Well, REMEMBER what
it DID DO? It polluted the ground water... It has a molecule so small that
it penetrated right through the concrete pads of the gas station, it reduced
your gas mileage by 10%, it was making people SICK... Especially the gas
station attendants that worked with it all day & night long with it.
The illegal immigrant gas station attendants - That went to hospitals and
put a further strain on MY (I don't know about your) Insurance rates. All
this because there ARE NO checks and balances and stupid statements made by
the EPA are accepted WITHOUT ANY PROOF. So maybe you should put down the
tequila and start tea toting so you can get your brain wrapped around what
is REALLY happening.
STOP with the single minded rhetoric and REALIZE what BIG GOVERNMENT (no
party alignment) is doing to YOU. I know you don't understand what it
is doing to the NATION.
Now, care to PROVE your statements? Mine are proven - we don't have MTBE
any more do we!
