how to ground plastic jerry cans? not easy to pour a 35 pound can into

List,
I have a Kitfox IV Rotax 912 UL, w/ a Purolator/Facet 40106 pump installed down
by the header tank. It specs 4-7 PSI. I'm guessing w/ a foot or so of lift
to the engine driven fuel pump, 6 psi is getting up to the old Pierburg 720 971.55
fuel pump.
Is this ok or should I go down to the 40105 model pump that is more of a 2.5 to
4 PSI pump?
I only run the electric pump to fill the carbs before start and check for function.
Thanks!

Howard,
I have a special piece of plywood and a sheet of bubble pack under the
plywood. I put my 5 gallon can on the plywood which I place on my wing
(Kitfox). I use one of those jiggle siphons to siphon the gas into my tank.

Take a look at "Goat Throat" pumps. They pressurize the can on the ground so
you just run a hose up to the wing.

I also use one of the siphons that you shake to get started. They work great.
In my hanger a ladder is used for the gas can and "on the road" I place the 5
gal can high up the spine of the fuselage.

Get the 40105. I have it on both my aircraft. Both have a long lift to the
pneumatic pump so I run the pump all the time. It doesn't over power the
float needle on either the 54 or 64 carbs.

Hi Rich,
The pumps that go to 6-7 psi is too much. Get the other pump at 2.5 - 4 psi. This
is where the engine normally runs (3.1-4.5). Running 6-7 psi will over pressure
and flood the carbs. Your engine only needs 2.2 to run. If you have a high
wing then it could be lower at the pump with a little help from gravity in
an emergency.
