I don't remember any auto application having one, and we balance the carbs anyway. Does anyone have a mechanical reason for maintaining this connection? Unbalanced engines vibrate excessively. Automotive engines are substantially more more solidly reinforced since there is a much smaller weight penalty. Even an engine with perfectly synchronized/balanced carbs will be pretty rough at idle without the tube, as you will see if you try it. -------- Thom Riddle Buffalo, NY (9G0) Kolb Slingshot SS-021 Jabiru 2200A #1574 Tennessee Prop 64x32 Truth is what stands the test of experience. - Albert Einstein Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=346401#346401 ________________________________ Message 4 _____________________________________ Time: 05:10:07 PM PST US Subject: RotaxEngines-List: Re: Balance Tube From: "Roger Lee" Hi Guy, These guys are right. Even if you sync the carbs they will slowly get unbalanced and at different rpms they may be off slightly. having that tube makes these small corrections and it is an absolute necessity. When they get unbalanced and without a balance tube you might have one side of the engine trying to run at 5000 rpm and the other at 5550-5100 rpm. -------- Roger Lee Tucson, Az.
