Hello Victor.
I wrapped the exhausts on my 912UL about 150 hours ago (18 months) and so
far it has worked very well. I used the automotive type. It`s about 2" wide
and wraps on easily. I used SS tye wraps at the ends.
I was still having too much heat around the carb bowls though. If I landed
and shut down on a hot day, I would have to wait until the heat dissapated
before restarting. Today I installed two flexible heat shields between the
engine and the carb bowls. I bought a "Versa-Shield" 7"x24" at our local
auto parts store ($40.00). I cut this in half, attached them to hoses and
fuel lines near the engine and wrapped up to the top of the carbs. Doesn`t
look great but does the job. It is for insulating starters, etc on race
cars.
Seems to work very well. Hot starts today were great.
Have fun.
