    From: "egp8111" <egp8111@aol.com>
After getting worrying indications on my 912 oil psi gauge I checked it out with a mechanical gauge. All was normal. So I obviously have a problem with my VDO guage or sender unit. Is there any way of checking the sending unit or gauge to see which one has the problem ? I checked the power and ground connections on both units but didn't turn up any smoking guns. thanks, EG Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=355832#355832

EG, Is the sender directly attached to the engine? If it is, then the sender is bad. The engine vibrations kill the senders in pretty short order. You will have to replace the sender. When you do, I recommend moving off the engine and mounting it on the firewall or some other stable surface. Use a flexible hose (with AN connections) to go from the block to the sender. Be sure to bleed the hose or fill it with oil in some way prior to connecting to the new sender or you will not get accurate pressure readings.
