If this flight was at a higher density altitude(DA) than previous flights you should expect a decrease in fuel consumption. At higher DA, if you fly at same a rpm as at lower DA, your engine is producing less power. It takes more RPM on fixed pitch prop to produce the same power as at lower DA. If this flight is at about the same DA as previous flights, perhaps the engine is loosening up a bit. New engines are frequently tight which results in more friction drag and more fuel consumption for a given rpm at same conditions. -------- Thom Riddle Buffalo, NY (9G0) Kolb Slingshot SS-021 Jabiru 2200A #1574 Tennessee Prop 64x32 Truth is what stands the test of experience. - Albert Einstein Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=360508#360508 ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 03:33:51 PM PST US From: "John Fasching" Subject: RotaxEngines-List: Low fuel flow readings - Update RV-12 50+ hours, Dynon D-180, completely normal except for "between flights" change in indicated GPH. I pulled and flushed out the FT-60 "red cube" fuel flow device and it seems clean, no dirt or debris. Still reading low, so I reset the K factor for the Dynon D-180 to increase the GPH and will have to trial-and-error set it in flight to get the former 4.0 GPG that I had been seeing. The original K factor setting had not changed, so I am uncertain what changed. (Always had shown 4.0-4.1 GPH and between flights it changed to around 3.3-GPH for the same engine operation.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Matronics Email List Services ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post A New Message rotaxengines-list@matronics.com UN/SUBSCRIBE http://www.matronics.com/subscription List FAQ http://www.matronics.com/FAQ/RotaxEngines-List.htm Web Forum Interface To Lists http://forums.matronics.com Matronics List Wiki http://wiki.matronics.com Full Archive Search Engine http://www.matronics.com/search 7-Day List Browse http://www.matronics.com/browse/rotaxengines-list Browse Digests http://www.matronics.com/digest/rotaxengines-list Browse Other Lists http://www.matronics.com/browse Live Online Chat! http://www.matronics.com/chat Archive Downloading http://www.matronics.com/archives Photo Share http://www.matronics.com/photoshare Other Email Lists http://www.matronics.com/emaillists Contributions http://www.matronics.com/contribution ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These Email List Services are sponsored solely by Matronics and through the generous Contributions of its members.
