Last Saturday I was up early to fly to breakfast with some other LSA pilots. During my mag check, I had a larger than usual drop and considerable roughness on the lower plugs. It still was within Rotax tolerances, so I took off. In flight I noticed more vibration than normal so I turned around and landed. I checked with the Matronics List Rotax guru, Roger Lee, who suggested I regap my plugs to .023 for winter weather and do a carb balance. I installed new plugs gapped to .023 with no change. I then did a pneumatic carb balance at 3500 RPM. The carbs weren't off that much according to the gauges, but it made a world of difference. Smooooooth! And same mag drop on both circuits. I still don't understand why the roughness appeared on only one of the mag circuits, and not both, but I'll be doing my carb balancing twice a year now rather than just once. Thanks, Roger! ____________________________________________________________ LifeLock Official Site Identity Theft Can Happen to Anyone So Get Protection with LifeLock. http://thirdpartyoffers.juno.com/TGL3141/4ee903228cf39c8c9bm01vuc
