Ron,
I believe after reaching into the fog of my mind that the engine does not
have bearings as such. The crank shaft rides in the case and if the two
pieces "rub" together eventually the crankshaft will not be able to turn as
the"bearing holes" for the crankshaft get smaller thus squeezing the
crankshaft .
Don't quote me now, but I believe that is the reason
