For several years he complained about what he called a "Rum Rum Rum" sound that he could never cure. Sort of like the harmonics sound you get with a twin engine recip airplane when the two engines are not quite in synch. Or tuning a guitar with a tuning fork and the guitar is not quite in tune. He did everything everyone suggested to no avail. Finally, he sent his gearbox to Lockwood (I think) and it took a changing of the gear set to rid it of that sound. My memory of the details could be off. He may be on this Rotax List, if not, I know he is on the Kolb Matronics list. It might be worth contacting him if the "vibration at cruise" you friend is having is similar to what he had.
