From: "detlili" <d-heun@web.de>
Hi! A friend has problem with the 914 charging system. Some flight hours ago he mentioned a lower than normal charging voltage and today the red light was burning. I checked the regulator output on B+ and got only the battery voltage. I checked the yellow to yellow wires of the generator and got 0,9 OHM. A little bit outside of the range from the manual that says 0,1 - 0.8 Ohm. It is not a calibrated OHM meter!!! Yellow to Ground infinitive. The AC voltage output is at idle low. 11 V instead of 18-20 V At 2000 RPM the Voltage is 15 V At 4000 RPM 30 V The regulator ground to ground is OK. Do you have an idea why the Generator AC output is so low at idle and 2000 RPM Thanks in advance Detlef -------- Detlef A&P, CFI RV-7 400+ hours on auto gas www.flight-around-the-world.org Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=395576#395576

Detlef, Could you be more specific about what DC voltage readings you have ? It is normal to have something below 13 volts at low RPM. "Normal" DC voltage with not too much current draw is about 13.8 V @ 5000 RPM with the Rotax voltage regulator. Best regards, -- Gilles http://contrails.free.fr

Today I replaced the regulator. But the DC output is below 13.5V under full load and with 4000rpm I also checked again the yellow wires but not from yellow to yellow, instead each yellow wire to ground and got 26 V on both wires. That means in my opinion that both half waves are OK. But why is my total voltage only half of the voltage from what it should be like the manual told us. regards Detlef -------- Detlef A&P, CFI RV-7 400+ hours on auto gas www.flight-around-the-world.org Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=395650#395650

Hello. I have been trying to contact Daniel Sasseville from Aero Propulsion Technologies, which is a Rotax Service Center located in Saint-Lazare, Quebec, Canada. I have tried to contact him for several weeks by e-mail, phone and postal letter, but I have not received a response. Has anyone had any recent contact with him? Thanks. Regards, Damien Graham Watertown, NY Sent from my iPad
