Otherwise the engine takes a massive gulp or air on start-up. In fact, oil pressure comes up in about 15 seconds (to just above the minimum pressure specified, a further two minutes to get anywhere near to its normal pressure and nearly 1 hours running to stabilise back to where it always sits. All because the filter can't be primed. Other products such as Sta-bil do not. The anti drain back membrane has nothing to do wit it. You should rotate the prop 20-30 times (this is in the maint. manual and old service bulletin) with the spark plugs in place and that will help facilitate pre-filling the oil filter. Rotax has determined that that small amount of air during the oil change is not detrimental. -------- Roger Lee Tucson, Az. It does nothing. It is worth 10 times nothing. And there ain't no mechanics in a can. A fool and their money will so be parted.
