I've tried both a Lisle inductive checker and a HFT inline tester that I modified to use on the 912 (tapped the end and put a 6-32 set screw in to simulate the spark plug end and put a threaded on cap on the plug itself) I tested both on the customers car before trying them on the 912 where both showed no spark. Checked all spark plugs and set gap at .025 (smallest wire on my set)--all good Checked the pickups for gap and resistance--passed both Checked mag switch for open and closed circuit--passed both Removed soft start module--still no spark All tests done with a fully charged battery that seemed to spin the engine at a normal speed. Calling Lockwood this morning to send in 966 726 ignition modules for testing. Back to the original question, anyone using a Snap On inline spark ignition tester? Do you use the regular ignition or the HEI version? Thanks, Rick Girard do not archive It isn't necessary to have relatives in Kansas City in order to be unhappy. - Groucho Marx A grouchy 912 that won't start will do that job just fine...Rick ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 07:30:07 AM PST US Subject: Re: RotaxEngines-List: Ignition tester From: Richard Girard Okay, since I feel like a first class dunce since talking to Eric at Lockwood I thought it best to publish the answer he gave me so as not to trouble anyone here. Maybe you all can give me credit for use with my next dumb question. And the answer is; timing light. Of which I own two and could probably cobble up a third from various and sundry bits in my strategic supplies. I was so focused on ignition spark checker and I've used it so often on two strokes that I just couldn't get past it to do a little creative thinking. Monday!
