Sacha- Never use any of the RTV sealants with a cork/rubber gasket. The RTV
will cause the gasket to crumble later on. I think the solvent in the RTV dissolves
the latex.

Yes indeed. I should have just mounted the sender with the
cork gasket that came with it.

Thank you. I'm not sure what RTV is. I used some red stuff which I thought was
for engine gaskets. I think Motorsil was the brand. Anyway just to be sure I'll
remove it as it serves no useful purpose.
