Subject: | Coolant Temperature Gauge for new 912 Cylinder Heads |
I fly an Allegro 2000 E-LSA with a Rotax 912 UL engine. I had to have
the new cylinder heads put on my engine. Since the new temperature
sensor in the heads now measures the actual coolant temperature rather
than the actual cylinder head temperature, and the max coolant
temperature limit for the 50/50 water glycol mix is 120 degrees C, I am
trying to determine if the following Cockpit VDO Temperature Gauge will
be compatible with the temperature sensor that is in the new cylinder
heads:
VDO Temperature Gauge
Part # 310-915
Temperature Range 120F-300F / 50C-150C
Gauge requires VDO Ohm range of 10 to 180 Ohms
12 Volts
The attached curve is the performance curve for the Rotax sensor in the
new heads. I am not an electrical guru and am not sure the above stated
gauge is compatible with the Rotax sensor and will indicate the correct
coolant operating temperature. Is there anyone out there that has the
new cylinder heads, and if so, what type gauge are you using to indicate
the coolant temperature in the cylinder head? Is the above gauge the
correct gauge for this application? Thanks for your help.
