Flying often and having a good battery maint. program or float charger keeps battery life to its fullest. If all you get is 1-2 years on a battery you're doing something wrong. The sprag clutch is affected because of continuous hard long starts and prop kickback. You should have neither and with the proper setup the engine should start on the first 1-2 prop rotations and NEVER have kickback.
