Actually, I have no doubt in my mind that they'll find it and hopefully recover it in tact. And even though you may not ever recover any money from it, in addition to the criminal case, my recommendation would be to sue the individual in civil court for the cost to get it back to where it belongs, re-install it, and the pain and suffering of the setback to getting the airplane done and fly it. There is no coiled method for the vent lines. It won't work as well as the plans method. If the line is not significantly above the tank it is easier for the fuel to be pushed out when it expands. North Platte: great place to stop on the way to OSH. Service is fast and friendly and they give a DISCOUNT on fuel for those on the way to or back from OSH. Biggest problems: You always find someone you want to stop and gab with about their/your airplane, someone you both know, or where you are staying in OSH. Restaurant on the field, The Airport Inn (duh) serves a famously great slab of beef for dinner, if you want to pause that long. One of my favorite stops if I'm up there. Great chocolate cookies in the lounge. And usually someone working the counter you won't mind giving your money to. Keep it on the list. I am very interested in putting one of these into my 6A. Naturally, I want to make the install as simple as possible. Details- They are offering two models- $1495 model w/o trim sensing and a $1745 model with trim sensing. excerpt from their e-mail: Altrak does not require any panel space other than the engage/disengage push button. Push the button to engage, push it again to disengage. Once engaged, an LED in the switch will indicate that the unit is engaged. The standard Altrak will flash the LED in the engage button if the altitude gets off by approximately 25 feet, fast flash for low and slow flash for high. Also available, is a trim sensing servo for an additional cost which will sense the need for trim before the system begins to loose or gain altitude. This is enunciated with the same flashing of the LED. The trim sensing servo is not necessary for Altrak to work properly, but some may want the added function that the trim sensing servo will give. Altrak will be available in mid to late April. Conversations with them indicated that the primary advantages of the trim sensing system is 1) reduced servo load and 2) avoids a potential pitch bobble when you disconnect. The bottom line good news with their system is the fact that only one small hole needs to drilled into your panel to mount. Switching subjects- I have been really keen on GRT's new EFIS offering. Apparently, Greg from GRT designed a lot of the FMS software for the 737, so he really knows about these types of systems. Curiously, I noticed that his EFIS system concept looks a lot like Sierra Flight systems. Have you ever noticed that their Sierra EAU engine monitor that works with their EFIS looks identical to the EIS? I wonder if Greg had a part in that system as well. Greg's system in my view looks right on in terms of implementation. I really like the idea of the GRT EFIS system effectively operating as a MFD or Slave to an outboard GPS (UPS & Garmin have a significant leg up in technology). This is how all of the major avionics vendors are structuring their MFD's and electronic HSI's. The BMA system lacks this feature as their GPS is hardwired in and you cannot use your IFR certified GPS as a primary NAV source on the BMA EFIS. I'm glad they're only using a small button for minimum real estate usage on the panel. I may have to get me one of them critters to go along with my Digitrak. Since I got my Digitrak early, total price for a 2 axis AP will be under $3000, and only have the real estate of a 2 1/4 hole (plus a button somewhere else).
