--> RV-List message posted by: "Richard Jason" <prestige@sover.net> I am in the aircraft refinishing business and was interested in the comments Re: PPP/Dupont web sites. I have had the occasion to do business with both paint suppliers and my feelings are the same for both. These Goliath's, in the paint business, are not interested in the aviation segment of the refinishing business, there primary focus is to the automotive refinishers for obvious reasons. There experience with refinishing aircraft is limited, at best. Request for information results in a reply from people that have no idea how to deal with the painting of aluminum. A typical response is "Well I once painted an aluminum fire truck". There are mfg.'s who do cater to aircraft painting "Jet-Glo" by Sherwin Williams," Randolph Products"," PRC Desoto", a PPG subsidiary, "AlumaGrip".To name a few. However I find that at least some of these focus on larger aircraft, again for obvious reasons. Dick Jason prestige@sover.net

The unit may not fully understand that you are changing pitch when you simply raise the tail without pitot information. How much does the heading change between taildown and tail up? The first 40 tail kits will be ready to go around the 22nd of this month. At this point, they're planning on filling 40 kits per month until the initial order (of a bit over a 100 kits) is taken care of. Bruce #18

    Subject: Molecules
--> RV-List message posted by: Wheeler North <wnorth@sdccd.cc.ca.us> I would expect that the issue isn't about molecular size, as the difference between the two ain't much. If the issue exists its more a function of permeability of the membrane, much like your lungs are permeable to both O2 and N2, but more so with O2. Avagadro's Law states that all gas molucules not involved in a chemical reaction will demand the same volume of space per molecule at equal temps/pressures, therefore appropriately contributing their portion of partial pressure. This should include while they are being crammed through a leak. It doesn't matter what type of gas molecule it is.

Mine is attached to a large piece of .041 safety wire twisted into a nice bodacious key bob, and it stays located on the same hook as the bathroom key. (I know locked bathrooms are a strange concept, but in California we let anybody have the appropriate identification to access anything, so we have to lock our bathrooms lest a bad guy booby traps our porcelain boomer box with a Bic lighter rigged to the flush handle.) --> RV-List message posted by: RV8ter@aol.com Well, the day has arrived. Van's says the fuse is ready to ship. I meant to put together a list of items to order with the fuse like the ELT but it slipped my mind until now. Anyone have a list of items that I might as well get in this shipment? BTW, what are most folks using for ELTs? There was a brand I wrote down but now can't find the info. Seems there was one relatively low cost brand most folks were happy to use but I can't remember it. It might be the one Van's sells. thanks, lucky

Also is there any good way of using a single antenna with the two coms. On my Q2 (way back in 1980) I used a multi-pole switch. Surely something else is available today. Appreciate any help. --> RV-List message posted by: Bruce Green <mailindex@juno.com> The altimeter in my Eagle is stuck on 3,000 feet and it has already been repaired several times, so my intent is to replace it with a new one. It appears that new ones are $500 for US made and $200 for imported. I don't fly anything close to IFR, so the cheap part of me says to buy the cheap one, however the Eagle really vibrates a lot, so the other part of me says to spend the money for a good one. --> RV-List message posted by: "Dana Overall" <bo124rs@hotmail.com> I wanted to wait until I was sure of where I was at in my fuselage construction. I believe I can say as of today I am at the QB RV-7 fuselage point in construction. It has been exactly 2 months and 4 days since I got my fuselage crate. In that time I took a week off for Oshkosh, and a week off for football camp (with coaching cloths on not a football uniform). Looking back at the construction process of the wings and fuselage, if I were to order a QB on either wings or fuselage I would get the QB on the wings. The fuselage has been a treat to build, it has truly been fun up to this point..............I haven't started the canopy yet. With that said, I do envy you QB guys, especially you QB wing guys who only put on one bottom skin, but you did miss out on working with quality of the pre punched pieces and how precise they went together. The verdict is in on my three sawhorse built fuselage. With the aft deck riveted on, my fuselage is 1/10 of a degree off. I know, I know........it's going to want to corkscrew through the sky. So be it, that's what I get for not using jigs:-) Just food for thought for you guys who are ordering emps. or contemplating QBs. I figure I saved enough in 2 months and 4 days to pay for my Dynon, EIS 4000 engine monitering system and stereo intercom.........with Big Mac money left over. Don't take this wrong, I am in no way slamming anyone for going the QB route. Within a month of taking this thing to the paint shop and painting the interior gold!! Putting LCDs in the back of the seat.......................OH, my bad you're talking talking about the 10:-) Heck, with all the glass stuff out now, us 7 guys would have space on the right side of the panel to put one, HUM.......................... Seal-Send-Time: Wed, 10 Sep 2003 16:22:52 -0400 --> RV-List message posted by: "WALTER KERR" <kerrjb@msn.com> Hi, Just a note from Bernie regarding my status. I had an MI in 1979 that totally occluded the left anterior descending artery (called the widow maker). I had run marathons before and ran them faster after the event to the astonishment of the medical profession. Apparently my fitness saved me with collateral flow paths for the heart muscle. I have had to do a stress treadmill yearly to keep my 3rd class medical. Two weeks ago I experienced another shutdown( 90% blocked artery). A stent was done and I feel fine, but the FAA automatically closes your 3rd class for 6 months and then they are running 12-14 weeks for special issuances. I am walking a mile a day and my cardiologists says he sees no reason that I should not fly my RV6A. Too bad the FAA doesn't see it the same way. I have decided to sell the 6A and continue working on the 9A with the rotary power. The airplane has been great and the TT on engine and airframe are 390 hours. It has a Sam James cowl and plenum, SL30 nav/com with GS, DG and AI. There are many other goodies which I will list on Doug's VAFWW site. Asking price is 69K. --> RV-List message posted by: dmedema@att.net Wheeler, Thanks for the offer of your adjustment tool. I was about to order one from ACS, but I decided to take one more look that night. So I tore through my whole shop looking in all the empty boxes from instruments, etc. and couldn't find it. I then looked through the junk on top of my bench (for the 10th time or so) and, lo-and-behold, there it was! The only logical explanation is those dreaded TOOL GREMLIMS, you know, the ones who put the tool you're looking for right back where it belongs but wasn't there the last time you looked! Anyway, I found it and plan to attach a locating device to it for future reference! Thanks, Doug Medema do not archive

One mole of any gas occupies 22.4 liters at STP. That being said, I agree completely that the size difference between N2 and O2 is insignificant. ----- Original Message ----- From: Wheeler North Subject: RV-List: Molecules --> RV-List message posted by: Wheeler North <wnorth@sdccd.cc.ca.us> I would expect that the issue isn't about molecular size, as the difference between the two ain't much.

OK gang, just wondering out loud here. I too enjoy the view but my wife sometimes on a long trip would just as soon read a book or sleep. I truly do have a lot of room on the right side of my panel, I mean a lot of room. I've just been looking at MP3s to wire into the intercom but now this LCD thing has had me thinking all day (I know, if I do too much of that I'll blow a fuse). My oldest son plays college football and takes those nice long bus trips on Fridays. He was on me before the season started to buy him a portable fliptop DVD player with battery. The only ones I have seen have a flip top to open the screen and you "drop" the DVD under the hood like a portable CD player. They run about $6-$700. Just thinking here, does anyone know of a small screen, say 6x6 that would have an assembly like the CD player in your car where it "grabs" the CD and pulls it in? Not like I would put it in my airplane or anything like that:-) but I was just thinking of the first minute or two of Top Gun on the screen with the sound track blaring in the headphones as you blast off.......................... I'd of course have the iso switch activated listening the sweet sound of that 360:-) Is there such an affordable animal out there??
