autolearn=unavailable version=3.0.3 --> RV-List message posted by: John Huft <rv8@lazy8.net> Don, I seem to remember having this problem too...the shaft wouldn't rise far enough in the housing to allow the plunger to get to the pocket...I think there was a sharp corner on the bottom of the housing that needed to be chamfered. Mine is new and does not lock into the steering arm. The spring and plunger move freely but fail to extend into the "pocket" in the aft area of the housing. --> RV-List message posted by: Lawrence E Mac Donald <lm4@juno.com> Rick, Iv'e done a couple of those dimples and putting the showing side of the piece down on a flat piece of metal and banging the dimple,or dent, lightly with the flat of a hammer worked well for me. For the couple of extra holes that can happen I used this trick I got off the list. 1. Bang the whole works flat. 2. Drill out the hole to the rivet size. 3. Put a rivet in the rivet cutter and cut off a piece about 1/16 th long. 4. Put the showing side of the hole down on a flat piece of metal. 5. Put that little piece of rivet into the hole and give it a smack. Works great for me. HTH Larry Mac Donald Rochester N.Y. --> RV-List message posted by: Dave Bristol <dbris200@sbcglobal.net> Do NOT use your rivit gun to do this, use a small hammer and tap very gently. If you hit it too hard, you'll stretch the metal and then you've got a REAL problem. --> RV-List message posted by: sarg314 <sarg314@comcast.net> An easy way to fill it up is to just go ahead and put a rivet in it. One more rivet in your skin isn't going to draw much attention, though it will be out of line with the rest. One more pebble on the beach. -- Tom Sargent, RV-6A, cowl.

--> RV-List message posted by: "Richard Leach" <papadaddyo@verizon.net> Thanks for all the response. I put the skin down flat with the back rivet plate underneath and tapped it out lightly. Can't even tell there is a boo boo. Do not archive Rick Leach 40397
