I am suffering from spending too much time away from my project, Can anyone tell
me what the F-810A is ?
The section of the manual is Upper Skins and says that the F810A to the F-818PP.
Is this for an 8 A. or have I just lost the plot ?
Thanks

Hi,
I agree that none of you guys is a lesser builder. I have just finished a
RV7 and have enjoyed the benefits of having the entire kit at my disposal at
once. This presents a distinct advantage over you guys that buy and build
the kit in increments. For example, drilling the engine mount to the
firewall while the firewall is lying flat on the bench is a major advantage
rather then having to match drill it while it is in a vertical plane, this
is only one example but there are numerous throughout the project.
Have faith in yourselves and complete the project at a rate your comfortable
with both building and financially. Know that the end result is worthwhile.
On a last and final note, having completed the RV7 in a little over 16
months, I also have an RV4 tailkit which is mostly(!!) complete which I
started in 1999...

G'day Trevor, it's the upper part of the F810 bulkhead and it will be
riveted to the F819.

There are several companies that are supporting LSA and writing coverage
for them. The ones which write coverage for homebuilts (AIG and the EAA's
program thru Global) are the two most likely to write it.
That is at least where it stands now. I hope that it continues like that.
There are some things going on behind the scenes (and not so much behind
them) that I think might hurt the availability of insurance for LSAs in
the future, but it is available now.
Any agent that works with homebuilt aircraft should be able to assist you
with getting an LSA insured through either company.

Listers,
OK, this has gone on long enough. If it wasn't such a pitiful response from this
list it would be funny. Bob is asking someone with access to an RV-7 to take
one simple measurement. In return he has got nothing but opinions. He doesn't
want your advice, opinion, philosophy or standard protocol for top or bottom
posting. HE JUST WANTS A &*

%# MEASUREMENT! I really think Bob is being too nice. He has asked numerous
times and hasn't lost total patience. I have! I will repeat his simple request:

make it simple. Fill in this form.... The distance from the floor to the scarf
joint is _______ inches. (I'm sure Bob will accept measurements in centimeters
if that is your preference.) If you don't have access to a RV-7 don't answer.
If you have anRV-7 but don't have a tape measure, don't answer. If you
have an opinion, advice, philosophy and no measurement, don't answer. If you
have flames and no measurement, don't answer.Ron SchreckRV-8 (But wish it was

You know how I always point out I flunked shop in high school. I was better

But, yeah, I thought of that this afternoon as I realized how hard it was

I am making a fiberglass cooling plenum and am trying to decide how much
spce to provide between the upper cowl and the top of the plenum.
Right now it is at least 1/4" everywhere, except at cyl. #1 which is
pretty tight. I'm sanding down a foam mold to do the lay-up, so I can
sand it further and create more space. For those of you who have made
plenums, can you advise me if 1/4" is enough clearance?

Hehehe. A person off list offered to do the trig for me (and is doing so).
It's kinda ironic, though, a request for help gets a series of lectures on
the importance of getting help, but doesn't actually provide the help
requested.
But if I'm ever looking for someone to replace my father (or possibly my
ex-wife), I'll know where to turn. (g)
Oh, yeah, initial figuring calculates it's 2.7905" at 48" out from the
fuselage side skin at the scarf joint.
Now, that THAT'S settled, I'm getting ready for work. Do you think ths shirt
matches these slacks? (g)
Don't lose your sense of humor, boys. Or your perspective. It's just an
airplane.

Consider the question wanting an answer based on the "scarf" joint:
1.. A joint made by cutting or notching the ends of two pieces
correspondingly and strapping or bolting them together. Also called scarf
joint.
2.. Either of the correspondingly cut or notched ends that fit together to
form such a joint.
So, perhaps if Mr. Bob is really interested in an accurate answer, he could
give a better description of what scarf joint he is wanting. I can see
several places where one piece of skin overlaps another piece of metal or
two meet. For this reason, I (and perhaps others)did not feel qualified to
answer even though I have a finished RV7 sitting in the hangar. Exactly
what are the part numbers of the two pieces making the scarf Bob?? And the
answer might be different with or without the gear leg reinforcements, air
pressure, flatness of floor, etc. Is any of that of interest?

Indiana Larry, don't worry about it, OK? I got the answer, and solved the
Middle East crisis and the world's energy shortage at the same time. It's
been a very productive day. (g) Thanks for your help. Y'all can now turn

Whoops, sorry, I missed this. Scarf joint. The one on the wing. I'm sure if
people have built an RV7 or a 7A, they're somewhat familiar with the scarf
joint on the wing. It was described in the original note.
And, no, the answer would not be different with or without the gear leg
reinforcements, air pressure, flatness of the floor etc. A reading of the
original question would reveal that the request was for the distance between
the bottom of the wing and a point level with the BELLY SKIN, not the floor.
Since we all have (or had) the fuselage on different height sawhorses, all
of those possible factors you site were eliminated so that they would be
irrelevant.
But, presumably, the distance between the bottom of the wing and a point
level with the belly skin of the fuselage at the point where the wing spar
enters the fuselage would be -- ideally -- the same regardless of the
configuration.
So case closed. Thanks a lot. Good luck with your plane.

was, set up the angle of incidence according with the plans, to do that we
put a long level on center of wing, with a small, I don't remember now, 1/4"
or whatever is listed, under the end of the level, which was center on
center of wing, that would give the angle of incidence, that was all, then
we drilled the braket from the fuselage and the one at the wing, finished..
I have to see how is on the 7...

Yep, that's the plan, Bert. But basically what I'm doing here is setting up
some holders at several points along the spar to place the wings on prior to
insertion. It's a modified "office chair" setup. It's just that people have
read into the request a lot more than the request for a height above the
fuse belly. They needn't have. It was just a request for a dimension. But
people are willing to help and offer advice and I appreciate it nonetheless.
Good flying,
B

My wife is concerned about hearing protection for the child.
I've taken my daughter flying since she was around two months old. It was in
the back of a Mooney though.
We tried several things for ear protections before going up. The best solution
was to cut a pair of ear plugs to fit comfortably in her small ears, and to
put a light weight hat on her head with ties so she wouldn't take it off. She
was fine with it after a few minutes.
Keep changes in altitude really mild. We had her drinking during any climbs
or descents, so her ears would keep equalizing.
She's four now, and loves planes. She wants to help me build one!
